Elisabeth

Elisabeth was 4 months old when she lost her hearing after a high fever. We used home signs to communicate with her at first, then learned some sign language when she was 2½. At the age of four, she received her cochlear implant. We appreciated Dr. Peters and his staff very much for helping our Elisabeth to hear. She quickly began to imitate the peeping of her baby chicks to everyone’s delight! Now, a year later she hears the phone ring and the birds sing. Elisabeth says many words and the names of her family. She says short sentences like “take a bath”. She has always been a bright, happy girl and now she babbles away as she plays and learns at pre-school and home. We are so happy that we decided to give Elisabeth the implant and chance to hear. Thank you Dr. Peters and the Dallas Hearing Foundation for providing assistance with her cochlear implant related expenses.
